In the thick of it…

Hello Friends,

Just a quick update. Thanks to you I’ve been back east all month working on the film and shooting with Kirk (I’m actually writing you from his apartment in Maryland). I’ve made a lot of progress, solidifying the overall structure and story of the film and tracking down archival footage, not to mention the incredible footage I’ve captured with Kirk here.

I’m gearing up to head back to Idaho at the end of this week and will be sitting down to organize rewards including the Bloodsworth prints, signed books, and the short films… so look for emails in March requesting some info from you.

Up next, I’m working on bringing Kirk out to Idaho in April for a week of interview and a special event in which I will be shooting Kirk telling his story (hopefully) to an audience of nearly 700 people. In the meantime I am getting work underway with our animator, Matthew Wade, and looking forward to having a great piece to share with you (and funding organizations) early summer.

Thanks again for your incredible support of this project. More soon!

With Gratitude,
Gregory

Quick Update

Hello all,

We’re in the waning days of post-production, where we refine and nitpick and make sure everything is perfect. It’s a painstaking process that usually demands a lot of hours and keen attention.

But, just to give you an inside scoop of what we’ve been doing, here’s a couple of pics from the sound design work we’ve been doing.

REWARD UPDATE – For the $100 tier, we apologize for the delay in the scene that was promised. We haven’t released it yet simply because it’s not 100% finished (97% is an accurate assessment). We would rather show you a finished product vs. a nearly-finished product.

Also, though some of you sent us your mailing address when we were asking for T-shirt sizes, once the rewards (DVD, T-shirt or poster, stills, etc., depending on what tier applies to you) are ready to go, we will send out a blast requesting mailing addresses so that we can…you know, mail you your rewards =]. Kickstarter only allows us to send out a mass message to each reward tier once, and we would rather wait until everything’s ready to go and ship it all at once to you (especially those of you overseas).

Thanks for reading, stay tuned! The light at the end of the tunnel is visible!

Principal photography on “The Crown and the Dragon”has finally wrapped! Over the weekend, we had actress Amy de Bhrun far from her Dublin home and into the snowy mountains of Utah… by which we mean, an indoor heated pool. But we did take her to visit the mountains.

We had two underwater scenes that we couldn’t get in the icy waters of the Atlantic when we were filming the rest of the movie, so we brought our nymphs and heroine to a far more civilized location, and spent the day bobbing up and down in a wonderfully warm pool.

Add some sea weed, some lights, some VFX in post, and voila, the ocean.

The Final Day

from Lucas, who posted this update today to the first campaign.

This is the update where I’m supposed to get all teary-eyed and profound. Or, where I wow you with “One More Thing…”. But I don’t have any of that right now. There’s no big, epic, raging party at the finish line, no balloons falling from the ceiling, no confetti, nothing grand at all. At least, not that I know of.

And that’s totally fine.

I’m not even on a set today. I’m going to go down to Santa Monica and hang out with Dustin Pearlman and his couch will be the final AYWR couch. Simple as that.

The updates will keep coming as I catch up on everything, but the road trip is over. I guess you could say now that we’re heading into post-production. So it’s not like this is just going away.

But I think what gets lost a lot in talking about AYWR is how important the community has been in quite literally keeping this thing afloat. Ultimately, this is your project and a document of how you collectively operate. I’m just the guy going from place to place to see it first-hand.

Without you, AYWR doesn’t work. Without you, it’s nothing.

Over on the blog, there’s a version of this same post where I asked people to post their reactions to AYWR’s final day under the hashtag #AYWRfeb18, and I’m compiling a bunch of those there. I’d love to see yours.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a hell of a year.

- Lucas

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to tell you that we have received the funds from Kickstarter and Amazon and have put in motion the orders for all of the rewards including posters, t-shirts, DVD’s and Blu-rays. Most of you can be expecting the rewards in early March.

We submitted to 25 festivals at the end of 2011, and with your help we are getting ready for a big wave of submissions that goes beyond what we have done thus far that will include some of the biggest festivals. None of which would be possible without your help so thank you all again.

Sincerely,

Eric Demeusy

Thank you for backing! + Casting Update

This message is going to those that have backed our project…

I just wanted to thank our backers personally for pledging towards the making of Project Eden! We recently cast our lead part Fox Rios and are finishing up the remaining of our casting which should completed by the end of this week.

Our project has 26 days left on Kickstarter which does seem like a lot of time but it really isn’t. We are trying our hardest to get the word out there through different networks and social media outlets. If you guys could throw a link to our Kickstarter page and tell your friends who might be interested from time to time, that would help us out ALOT.

Thank you for believing in Project Eden, we won’t let you guys down.

The second part of LBFCo’s Interview with Adam Spinks and the crew from SURVIVORS

The following interview has been drawn from a set responses to questions presented to Adam Spinks and members of the crew from the film SURVIVORS by LBFCo.

What is you and your teams vision for the film beyond post?

Our intention is to complete SURVIVORS over the winter of 2012-2013 and then hold an Advanced Screening Premiere for all of our backers, friends, family and industry insiders. We will likely release some tickets for sale to raise money for festival submissions.

Many festivals require the film to be of Premiere Status, so we will not hold public screenings until after it’s festival run. It is our hope that the film will get picked up for a distribution deal during the course of its festival run and shown in cinemas in the UK.

Can you tell us how you will measure the success of the film or benchmarks set by you and the team for the project?

Our measure of success will be having our film released and for people to have the opportunity to see our story. SURVIVORS purpose is twofold, to provide a platform for undiscovered talent working in the independent community while telling a unique story with a genuine message.

As our budget is small, there is less pressure so perform at the box office and by crowdfunding we’ve deliberately avoided being sucked into that predicament . We hope that people turn out to see SURVIVORS because it stands on it’s own as a unique and daring genre piece with an emotional heart they might not have expected.

Does your schedule align with any festivals that allows you to premiere SURVIVORS?

Our current plan is to shoot the movie over the Summer of 2012 and then complete post-production over the Winter between 2012-2013. You might see a short film of ours entering Virgin Media Shorts in 2012, depending on scheduling and the likelihood is that we’ll be undertaking Sci-Fi London’s 48 Film Challenge in April.

If asked about influences and inspirations, what might the answer be for you and your close team?

We grew up on the films of Spielberg’s early stuff, on Zemeckis’ BACK TO THE FUTURE and George Lucas’ STAR WARS, so their influence upon the team cannot be underestimated.

The scope of SURVIVORS stretches beyond anything we’ve seen attempted at such a low budget level before so we’ve probably got them to thank for our grandiose ideas and stories!

We loved TROLL HUNTER (2011) and Gareth Edwards’ MONSTERS (2010) and would cite them as big inspirations for what we’re trying to do with this project. They are both incredibly well made and transcend their relatively low budgets and stand toe to toe, we feel, with their peers.

What items would you and your team say are pieces of equipment you just can’t live without out in the field?

A small sewing kit to fix any costume disasters and eyelash glue to save any prosthetics we may need to rescue but save on real prosthetic glue.

It’s also important to take a good supply of water and a flask of hot drinks.

Keep extra tapes/ hard disks at the ready because in this day and age, it’s cheap as chips to keep shooting and you never know when your actors will give you something amazing.

I suggest that above all else, you should take an open mind with you. Be aware of the script but be receptive and open to the suggestions of others… that and take a watch, time is expensive so make it count.

Our special thanks to Adam and his team who took the time to answer our questions while campaigning for SURVIVORS.
